Labour Day Message 2023
September 1, 2023
As the Executive Director of Manitoba Building Trades, I would like to express my deep gratitude on this Labour Day for the exceptional workforce that comprises our building trade unions. Their unwavering dedication to excellence and their invaluable contributions form the foundation of our shared success.
Labour Day goes beyond being just a day off work; it is an opportunity to reflect on the remarkable achievements of organized labor in the construction sector. Our building trade unions have played a pivotal role in shaping the industry, ensuring safer job sites, fair wages, and better working conditions for all. Their unmatched expertise, professionalism, and commitment to craftsmanship have set the standard for quality in our field.
At MBT, we recognize that our success is entirely dependent on the skills of our unionized workers and the dedication of our Business Managers, Site Representatives, and Support staff at our affiliated locals. We are committed to fostering a strong partnership with our trade unions, promoting training and apprenticeship programs, and upholding principles of fair compensation and worker safety.
On this Labour Day, I would like to acknowledge the challenges that construction workers face, including demanding physical labor and potentially hazardous conditions. As industry leaders, it is our responsibility to continuously strive for improved safety measures and provide the necessary support and resources to protect our valued employees.
As we celebrate Labour Day, let us not only remember it as a day of rest but also a day of recognition. Let us acknowledge and honor the hardworking men and women of our building trade unions who construct the infrastructure that drives progress in our society. Together, we will continue to build a stronger, safer, and more prosperous future for all. Thank you for your unwavering dedication, and happy Labour Day!
Sincerely,
Tanya Palson
