Manitoba Building Trades is thrilled to see the announcement from the provincial government to proceed with support for the Canadian Premium Sand project in Hollow Water First Nation.

“This project could bring with it almost 700 construction jobs to our province,” said MBT Executive Director Tanya Palson. “Approving this project is a great signal to workers and business in Manitoba that this government is going to pursue sound economic opportunities. We believe this project could be a cornerstone in establishing Manitoba as a leader in resource development globally.”

Our members have the skills and experience that are required for new construction in the low-carbon economy. We expect that many of our unionized skilled trades workers will be on the tools bringing this project to reality, and look forward to further planning on workforce development and inclusion priorities for surrounding communities.
