Course Description

Together with our Training Partner Safety Services Manitoba this course is designed to give the participant the tools and the concepts to plan and execute a high (or low) angle rescue. Complimented with written and practical skill assessments throughout the course to ensure a thorough understanding of principles and practices, the High Angle Rescue Course provides students with the most modern technical knowledge and resource material. Documentation will be provided to the student to satisfy due diligence and local regulation compliance.

This course meets the criteria for accepted practices in OH&S training (ANSI Z-490. 1-2001) the highest standard in the industry.

NOTE:  This course is designed for Emergency Response Team members or people who want to become part of an ERT.  This is NOT A FIRST RESPONDER COURSE – RESCUE ONLY.

Learning Objectives

Introduction to Fall Protection Systems

Pole top rescue

Tower rescue

Building /Wall rescue

Powerline (Self-support lattice)

Self-rescue (Petzl EXO)

All aspects of what it takes to perform a safe effective rescue

Scene assessment and control

Proper preparation and execution of a rope rescue

Ropework (selection and care)

Rigging and knots

Hardware deployment and care

Developing a rescue team and plan

Extricating victims from a verity of situations

Setting up of rigging under various condition (weather, terrain)

The participant will perform different rescue options while using SCBA and other required equipment

The participants will perform self-rescue while using SCBA, and blackout hood

Practical

This course is physically demanding and as such the participant needs to be in reasonably good physical condition.  Participants must be able to work at heights.  Practical component will be determined with the client.
