Course Description

This 3-hour introduction to home gardening course will set you up for a successful gardening season! You will learn how to select perennial, annual and vegetable crops appropriate for your space with a special focus growing your own native plant pollinator garden specific to Manitoba’s climate and growing season. This course is perfect for novice gardeners and experienced home gardeners who want to refresh their foundational knowledge and design their outdoor spaces for a healthy and successful garden this season.

Carmen is a graduate from the University of Winnipeg’s Business Administration program and currently the Horticultural Manager at the Manitoba Building Trades Institute. Carmen has worked in gardens all over Canada such as VanDusen Botanical Garden, the Inuvik Community Greenhouse, and the Niagara Parks Botanical Gardens where she completed her apprenticeship and received her Red Seal certification as a Horticultural Technician.  Carmen enjoys ornamental gardening and creating thoughtful green spaces that contribute to sustainable food production.
